The I’m With Alec Fund directly supports young patients and their families through the Cancer and Blood Disorders program at Children’s Minnesota. The fund was started to address needs we saw while Alec was receiving cancer treatment. 

ALEC'S STORY 

Within a week of waking up on vacation with leg pain on January 1, 2025, Alec Santelman, age 17, was diagnosed with localized Ewing sarcoma. 

Throughout a grueling 10 months of tests, chemo, radiation and surgery at Children’s Minnesota and Mayo Clinic, Alec's mental attitude, faith and commitment to staying active remained steadfast.

On November 4, 2025, Alec was declared cancer-free! 

In February 2026, Alec moved to Bethel University to start classes and play football.  

Alec is committed to sharing his story and message of the importance of a positive mindset and physical activity during treatment to help other kids fighting cancer.
