Jackson Kirchner’s Type 1 Diabetes Journey

Jackson's Children's Hospital Fundraiser
My name is Jackson Kirchner and I am raising money for the Child and Family Services Program at Children's Hospital. Five years ago, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 13. I am now 18 years old and I am grateful for the care and support that Children's has provided.
Being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes introduced many new changes to my dialy routine and lifestyle, which was difficult to adjust to early on. Children's Hospital taught me how to manage my blood sugar, count my carbs, and live as a type 1 diabetic.
This is my fifth year raising money for Children's since being diagnosed. Also I have had the honor of serving on the Youth Advisory Council for the last five years and working closely with the Child and Family Services Program.
Today I have fully adapted to the changes in my life and have embraced being diabetic as a part of my identity! I am leaving for college in the Fall and thanks to Children's I am prepared to live independently with type 1 diabetes.
I am raising money again this year because I want to help ensure that other children have access to the same care and support.
Thank you for supporting me and Children's Hospital by donating today!
